Election Day, Early Voting and Location

The general election will be held on Saturday, May 09, 2009. The polling place for early voting and Election Day will be at the Highland Village Municipal Complex, 1000 Highland Village Road. The hours of the polling place on Election Day will be 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Citizens are encouraged to bring their voter registration cards with them to the polling location. Early Voting by Personal Appearance

First day for early voting by personal appearance begins April 27, 2009 and concludes on May 05, 2009. The hours of the polling place during early voting are Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with extended hours of 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. on May 04 and 5.


Vote Early by Mail

A registered voter is eligible for early voting by mail if the voter meets at least one of the following criteria:

Out of the county:
The voter will be out of the county of the voter's residence on Election Day and during the hours of voting at the main early voting polling place during the part of the period for early voting by personal appearance remaining after the voter's early voting ballot application is submitted to the city secretary. If the voter does not submit the application before early voting by personal appearance begins, the voter is ineligible for early voting by mail unless the voter is absent from the county when the application is submitted.
Disability:
The voter has an illness or physical condition that prevents the voter from appearing at the polling place on Election Day
Age:
The voter is 65 years of age or older on Election Day

Confinement in jail

The voter is confined in jail at the time the application is submitted:

  • serving a misdemeanor sentence for a term that ends on or after election day;
  • pending trial after denial of bail;
  • without bail pending an appeal of a felony conviction; or
  • pending trial or appeal on a bailable offense for which release on bail before Election Day is unlikely.
